Success for Clonard Juniors

June 2, 2015

Clonard juniors have won the Ulster water polo U10 and U14 leagues and came a very close runner up in the U12’s on goal difference by 2 goals.

The league ran every Friday night in May in Andersonstown Leisure centre.

The stand-out match of all the leagues was the U10 Clonard against Cathal Brugha with Clonard coming out on top to retain their unbeaten record. The standard of play from both teams was exceptional and this really set the scene for future show downs. Brugha needed to win the game to lift the cup having dropped points in a draw against Bangor.

Clonard U10’s second team did very well also winning two of their matches. Most of these players will be playing in this age band for a few years yet.

Our U12 first team went right down to the last match, with Brugha taking the honours this time having a slightly superior goal difference.

They then went on to play in the U12 cup in the NAC in Dublin last weekend, topping their group but being put out in the quarter finals by Brugha, who were beaten in the semi’s by Bangor, with  the trophy being lifted by Clontarf

Our U14 team took the trophy again unbeaten, which sets them up nicely for the U14 cup.
